Spontaneously, the idea comes first, with the form in close pursuit. Our
ability to be moved to laughter preceeeds whatever it is we deem "funny".
A good time with a lot of fun people, always made perfect sense. So let's
make it real, we thought, and so that's what we tried to do. Anon Salon
is a place to grab new ideas before business as usual turns them into
formulas. Graceful incongruities bump and grind all night long. Anon Salon
teases technology, embraces the arts, and flirts with the unknown. Ambiguity
never ceases to be interactive. Dullness looks for walls in vain attempts
to keep surrender at bay. Forget that crap.

Anon Salon is a nearly monthly party/event/performance that celebrates
all that's eclectic and electric in Bay Area art, design, and media
performance activity. Anon Salon goes where it will to do what it must.
Anon Salon is moving into its tenth year, though its roots go back through
Climate Theatre to South of Market gallery and Glashaus parties of the
mid-80's.

Anon Salon showcases artists and work that are reflective of a very broad
spectrum of expression. In these convergent times, the task before us is to
become as inclusive of diversity as possible, and to seek out the highest
common ground. This is a purpose that the Bay Area art and new media scene
is uniquely well suited to fulfill. In the megaverse of human
possibilities, analog and digital paths melt together in much the same way
that fate and a great groove merge on a dance floor. Anon Salon changes the
house rules on just what makes a party good.

As you follow the pARTy path, conversations blend together, and faces
go swimming by. Familiar faces yes, interesting faces, yes. Faces that
freely exercise their range of options. -faces that if you only knew
a little more, would surely yield up something interesting. These are
faces that know something about free-lance life, work, art, and pleasure,
about men and women, and something even about an imperative to excellence.
Who is who? Who is anybody? Who the hell cares? It's a party. Fine art
and found art, videophones and finger paint, digeridoos and radio-controlled
MIDI floors, spoken word poetry and a life drawing class, all have their
place in the larger mix.
