The festival season begins with the 14th annual How Weird Street Faire on Sunday April 28th, the greatest street faire in the galaxy! This year's theme is "Weirdi Gras" - a spectacle unlike any other. Featuring marching bands and parades, art and performances, 10 stages of electronic dance music, vendors from around the world, and thousands of people in colorful costumes dancing in the streets.
COSTUMES!
This year everyone at the faire will be in costume. There are still 10 days to get ready. Go as yourself, or go as someone else. Go as something colorful, creative, fun, and weird. Weird is always in style.
MUSIC!
This year will showcase some of the best DJ's, producers, and sound systems on the planet. There will be 10 stages of amazing music, art, and sound from Symbiosis, Muti Music, Groove Garden, Enchanted Forest, Opel, Opulent Temple, World Famous Productions, Basscraft Soundsystem, Urge Productions, Pink Mammoth, SF House Music, Temple Nightclub, SWAG, Pulse SF, Space Shaping, PK Sound, The Boombox Affair, Party Babas, Red Marines, Psycircle, Happy Camp, and more.
Line-ups will be posted on the website soon - http://HowWeird.org
To celebrate Weirdi Gras, there will be five great marching bands at the faire, including Blue Bone Express, Loyd Family Players, North Beach Brass Band, TrashKan Marchink Band, and Fanfare Zambaleta. They will be parading throughout the day and performing at the Marching Band Stage from 1pm to 7pm.
DANCE!
How Weird will be participating in National Dance Week for the first time, uniting the thousands of dancers at How Weird with dancers of every type across the country. National Dance Week will be presenting a special flash mob at 4pm at the Marching Band Stage next to the center intersection. Get there early to learn the dance!
MAGIC BEADS!
This year we have Magic Beads! For a $10 donation at the entrances to the faire you get Magic Beads, a collectible Weirdi Gras beaded necklace worth many times their cost, with discounts and specials at all of the vendors at the faire. The Magic Beads are how people can support the faire, while getting something back in return. This year the Beads have extra Magic! Available while supplies last.
