5. THE MASSIVE WORLDLY TOUR - 5.07.10 Cheb i Sabbah was born in Algeria of Berber (Amazigh) descent and moved to Paris as a teenager and became a DJ by chance. By the late 1980s, residing in San Francisco, he was internationally pushing boundaries on the dance floor, seeking ways to infuse Asian, Arabic and African sounds into the mix. Then as the “world music” movement unfolded, Cheb i Sabbah took the inspired step of recording traditional and classical musicians from India, Pakistan and Africa, effectively transforming those compositions into sonic landscapes, thus creating a new style of electronic music “composed” by a DJ. With seven landmark recordings on the Six Degrees Records label, Sabbah remains a DJ at heart, An innovator in one of the most contemporary musical realms, he is clearly committed to creating new forms. From the crowded confines of nightclubs to major festivals, Cheb i Sabbah enjoys a worldwide reputation as a magician of the dance floor. On stage he often spins accompanied by live musicians, dancers and massive projected visuals, interwoven and juxtaposed as the spirit moves www.chebisabbah.com |

The How Weird Street Faire showcases many diverse genres of electronic music, including Live Electronica, Downtempo, Dubstep, Electro, Breaks, Psytrance, House, Techno, Drum & Bass, World Beat, and too many sub-genres to name! There will be something for everyone. The music stages are produced by collaborations of collectives, representing some of the best in the world. The How Weird Street Faire uses electronic music to bring many different kinds of people together and create a common bond. We have found that dancing knows no boundaries or political affiliation. Music, more than any other form of communication, is able to transcend differences between people. It is through music and art that peace is always possible. |

world. So much incredible good work is being done by the PEOPLE. A lot was
demonstrated this year The "work" is now to reach the larger world with the transformative
and The peaceful silence of 30,000 people at the Temple Burn on Sunday was "religious," So, let's get busy and make this year "work" - for all the best reasons and in all the best ways. ^ to TOP |
