FIFTEEN years in the making - Documented from day ONE.
From a tiny jug band to the vaudevillian spectacle it is today.
This will be the beginning story of how a gang of poets and musicians turned a pile of puppets into an internationally touring stage show. It was a colorful lifestyle that evolved into a show - a spontaneous collaboration started around a campfire that would eventually stumble out of the woods and into the spotlight of American subculture.
Flecher Fleudujon (founding member of YDRS) has been documenting this project from day one. This film will span 15 years of footage (some on Super 8 film). It will be a kind of rags to riches fairytale - how it started as a three-piece jug band (handmade instruments, roadside music halls, food in cans) and evolved into an internationally touring stage show. We will address its roots in the underground, its organic beginnings (as a lifestyle more than a show) and its place in the national community of modern vaudeville/cabaret troupes.
It's sure to include all the interpersonal conflict, emotional breakdowns and near-death experiences you would expect from a story about misfit spirits and half-mad troubadours.
